One of the first questions we hear from almost every client is:
"Should I rest...or push through it?"
The answer?
It depends. And, usually, it's not one or the other, there's a happy middle ground.
Which, we realize is not super helpful. But, one of the things we think is done too often in healthcare is just give blanket advice for an issue.
Recently, a runner came into the clinic after weeks of dealing with knee pain. They'd stopped running completely because they were worried they'd make it worse. They were frustrated, losing fitness, and unsure what to do next.
After an assessment, the answer wasn't "keep resting."
It also wasn't "ignore the pain."
Instead, we built a plan that helped them keep moving, modify their training, and gradually return to running with confidence.
Too often people think it's either keep pushing through it, or shut it down completely. Almost always there's a way to modify things slightly, keep moving, and get better at the same time.
The right answer is rarely all or nothing.
Every injury is different, but the goal is almost always the same:
-
Understand what's actually causing the pain
-
Know what activities are safe to continue
-
Modify what needs modifying, not everything
-
Build a plan that gets you back to what you love
If you've ever wondered whether you should take time off, push through, or do something in between, our latest blog breaks it down.

The biggest takeaway?
