Weβre thrilled to welcome Sahil Khan to the District Performance Physio team!
In addition to PT services, Sahil is the new clinic manager of our downtown location!
We asked Sahil a few questions to let you get to know him, so here goes!
What inspired you to become a physical therapist?
Growing up as a competitive soccer athlete, I dealt with several foot and ankle injuries that kept pulling me away from the sport I loved. Working closely with great physical therapists during those rehab experiences showed me how powerful personalized, performance-focused care could beβnot just for getting out of pain, but for returning measurably stronger and more confident. Those early experiences reshaped my expectations of physical therapy and ultimately inspired me to pursue this field.
Weβre all about celebrating wins! Can you share a success story from your experience as a physical therapist?
A standout experience was working with a client who was hesitant to return to soccer after undergoing three knee surgeries. They had previously been told that returning to the sport might not be possible. From the start, we aligned on a shared goal: returning to the field only if and when they were truly readyβboth physically and mentally.
Through a collaborative, structured, and progressive rehab plan, they passed return-to-sport testing for the first time in years. With consistent preparation and growing confidence, they progressed from training back into practice and eventually returned to competitive play. Watching their transformationβespecially the shift in confidence and mindset alongside the physical gainsβwas the ultimate win.
Whatβs your favorite way to relax and unwind outside of work?
Staying active is still my favorite way to rechargeβwhether thatβs training in the gym, running, soccer, golfing, or getting outside to snowboard. I also enjoy spending quality time with my wife, son, and our golden doodle, and exploring DCβs food and drink scene.
Give us an inspiring or favorite quote of yours to get us motivated!
βOur identities are open systems, and so are our lives. We donβt have to stay tethered to old images of where we want to go or who we want to be. The simplest way to start rethinking our options is to question what we do daily.β
